PM Internship Scheme 2024-25: A Golden Opportunity for Young Professionals

The PM Internship Scheme is a groundbreaking initiative aimed at providing one million internship opportunities across 500 top companies in India over the next five years. This pilot project for 2024-25 is set to offer 1.25 lakh internship opportunities for youth to gain real-world business experience and enhance their skills.


प्रधानमंत्री इंटर्नशिप योजना एक अभूतपूर्व पहल है, जिसका उद्देश्य अगले पांच वर्षों में भारत की 500 शीर्ष कंपनियों में एक करोड़ इंटर्नशिप अवसर प्रदान करना है। इस पायलट परियोजना के तहत 2024-25 में 1.25 लाख इंटर्नशिप के अवसर युवाओं को दिए जाएंगे, जिससे वे वास्तविक कार्य अनुभव प्राप्त कर सकें और अपनी कौशल को बढ़ा सकें।

Key Features of the PM Internship Scheme:

  • Internship Duration: The internship lasts for 12 months, with at least half of the time spent gaining hands-on work experience in a real-world environment.
  • Stipend: Interns will receive a monthly stipend of ₹5000. Of this, ₹500 will be provided by the company from its CSR funds, and the remaining ₹4500 will be directly transferred to the intern's bank account via the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
  • Eligibility Criteria:
    • Age: 21 to 24 years old.
    • Education: Applicants must have completed high school (10th), and higher secondary (12th), or hold diplomas or undergraduate degrees such as BA, BSc, BCom, BCA, BBA, etc.
    • Exclusions: Those in full-time employment or regular full-time education are not eligible, but candidates enrolled in distance education can apply.
  • Benefits:
    • Experience: Real-world exposure to various industries.
    • Financial Aid: A one-time contingency grant of ₹6000 will be provided for each intern upon joining.
    • Insurance: Interns will be covered under the PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and PM Suraksha Bima Yojana.

How to Apply for the PM Internship Scheme:

  1. Visit the Official Portal:
    • The official PM Internship Scheme portal is www.pminternship.mca.gov.in. Here, you can register and browse available internship opportunities.
  2. Registration Process:
    • Applicants must register on the portal using their Aadhar or eKYC for identity verification.
    • During registration, candidates must provide details such as name, address, educational qualifications, and upload relevant documents such as certificates.
    • Applicants must also submit a self-declaration confirming that they meet all eligibility requirements.
  3. Browse and Apply for Internships:
    • After registration, candidates can browse available internship opportunities based on their preferred location, industry sector, and job roles.
    • Candidates can apply for up to five internship opportunities at a time.
  4. Selection and Shortlisting:
    • Candidates will be shortlisted based on their preferences and the requirements posted by companies.
    • Companies will select candidates from the shortlisted pool and offer internships through the portal.
    • Candidates can accept or decline internship offers via the portal.
  5. Joining and Financial Support:
    • Once an internship offer is accepted, a formal internship agreement will be generated, outlining the responsibilities of both the intern and the company.
    • Upon joining, the intern will receive the ₹6000 contingency grant, followed by the monthly stipend.
  6. Completion and Certification:
    • After successfully completing the internship, companies will issue a certificate of completion through the portal, which can be used for future career opportunities.

Important Notes:

  • Companies are required to provide real-life work experience and must ensure that at least 50% of the internship duration is spent on practical tasks in a professional environment.
  • Eligibility Exclusions: Applicants from families with an annual income above ₹8 lakh or with family members holding permanent government jobs are not eligible.
  • Non-Employment Assurance: Acceptance into the PM Internship Scheme does not guarantee future employment with the host company.
